LITTLE ROCK - The
University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences (UAMS) will sponsor a
free weight loss seminar Saturday, Jan. 11, from 10 a.m. to noon.
The seminar will be in
Sam Walton Auditorium in the Arkansas Cancer Research Center at
UAMS in Little Rock. This event is part of the UAMS "Here's
to Your Health" Educational Seminar Series for the general

The seminar program
will include Philip Kern, M.D., director of the UAMS Weight
Control Program and professor of internal medicine in the UAMS
College of Medicine, who will discuss the obesity epidemic, how
weight loss can greatly improve a person's health, and how to
take the first step to losing weight.
Dietician Sydney
Rephan, R.D., L.D., will describe the UAMS Weight Control Program
- a comprehensive, medically supervised, outpatient service that
helps each patient reach and then maintain his or her ideal body
weight.
The seminar will also
include a patient "testimonial" about challenge of
weight loss and maintenance. The event will conclude with a
question-and-answer session and drawings for door prizes.
