large-scale mock check will be unveiled and signed during the brief
ceremony.
What
The
Roy and Christine Sturgis Educational and Charitable Trust (Dallas)
will present a check for $288,000 to the UAMS
College of Medicine for the
Department of Orthopaedics and its Center for Orthopaedic Research.
The gift is earmarked for a Micro CT Scanner, a new device that
enhances the value of clinical and basic research for patients with
bone-related diseases.

This
grant from the Sturgis Trust will be used to purchase a Micro CT
Scanner, a medical
device that identifies bone structure in three dimensions for
osteoporosis and orthopaedic patients.
This technology is the first of its kind to be installed in
Arkansas and Texas.
How
The
instrument enhances the value of difficult-to-obtain clinical samples
and opens new dimensions for basic and clinical research in
osteoporosis and other bone diseases.
