Consortium To Sponsor Silent Auction for New Guesthouse 05-03-02
(Little Rock) The UAMS
Consortium, a group of young professionals and business executives,
will hold a silent auction in late May to benefit a new guest house
for patients and their families admitted to University Hospital on the
campus of the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences (UAMS). The
Silent Auction and Cocktail Reception will be held on Thursday, May
30, 5 to 8 p.m. and will benefit the Guesthouse and Cancer Support
Center located at the corner of Markham and Rose Streets. The event
will be in the Bill and Margaret Clark Room on the third floor of
River Market, 400 President Clinton Avenue. Trip
Strauss of Little Rock is chairman of the silent auction committee.
”We’re hoping that people will want to swing by after work, have
some refreshments, and bid on the fantastic items we’re
collecting,” Strauss said. “This is the first fund-raising project
of the UAMS Consortium and we’re all very pleased to be helping
build the Guesthouse.” The
auction will include gift certificates, theater tickets, a year’s
worth of Yarnell’s ice cream, teeth bleaching by a Little Rock
dentist, interior design consulting, and other unusual items. The
Guesthouse is under construction in Little Rock on West Markham Street
at the corner of Rose Street, so it is conveniently accessible to the
UAMS campus across the street. Parents and Friends of Children and
Adults, Inc., a local organization, is building the facility with
support from other organizations, including the Arkansas Cancer
Research Center (ACRC) Auxiliary and UAMS Medical Center Auxiliary,
both at UAMS. Tickets
are $30, or which $20 is tax-deductible. Contact any member of the
