Small Groups

Several times each semester, you will meet in small groups to discuss topics related to patient care. Each small group session will be facilitated by clinical faculty who will guide you through several clinical case scenarios that are related to the topic of discussion. Attendance is required. It is your responsibility to sign in on the attendance sheet provided.

Attendance

Any reasons for missing a small group session - except for those specific circumstances listed in the College of Medicine Student Handbook - must be approved by the Course Director prior to the session or examination. Should illness or accident strike, we will require a completed "Physician's Statement Form." Please be advised that the Course Director will verify the information submitted on this form.

Small Group Facilitator Responsibilities

Reports to the Course Director any concerns or questions about the students. Meets with the Course Director at least once each semester. Is on time for all small group sessions. Takes attendance and notifies the ICM office of student absences. Notifies the ICM office if s/he will not be able to attend the session so alternate coverage can be arranged.
