Public
Health Week
These segments explore public health during Public
Health Week the first full week of April.
Jim Raczynski, Ph.D., dean of the College of Public
Health at UAMS, discusses the problem of obesity, one of the greatest
obstacles to public health in Arkansas. In the nine years between 1991
and 2000, Arkansas’ obesity rate almost doubled to nearly 25
percent. Also appearing during the week is UAMS professor William
Golden, M.D., who discusses his work with the Arkansas Foundation for
Medical Care, a non-profit partner with UAMS in addressing public
health concerns around the state.
This program contains five segments of two minutes
