Botox® injections are a leading procedure at the UAMS Laser and Cosmetic Surgery Center.
Suzanne Yee, M.D., director of the center and an assistant professor in the Department of Otolaryngology (Head and Neck Surgery) in the UAMS College of Medicine, discusses
Botox® treatment. Botox® is derived from the same agent that produces the food poison botulism. Injected into the face, it relaxes and temporarily paralyzes the muscles that form wrinkles. It is a safe and quick procedure but must be repeated every three to six months.
Dr. Yee explains why "Botox® parties" away from a physician's office are a bad idea. She also explains why more women in their late 50s, 60s, and even 70s are seeking cosmetic treatments.
