How do you become a member of HOD?

The House of Delegates is made up of 115 campus employees comprising 2% of the 6 EEOC groups. These groups include executive, administrative and managerial positions; clerical positions; professional and non faculty positions; technical and paraprofessional positions; skilled crafts positions; and service and maintenance employees.

Half of the delegates are elected each year for two year terms with elections being held in the summer before the start of the HOD year in September. Employees interested may submit their names to the membership committee during the election period for selection as a HOD member. A general call for potential members is announced via campus communications.

What does a member of HOD do?

All members of the House of Delegates volunteer their time and effort to help with projects that promote a sense of community through out the UAMS campus. Members serve a term of two years and are asked to participate in any of the 8 committees that meet monthly to discuss issues that matter to the employee’s of the UAMS campus.

If you have ever watched a campus address by the Chancellor or participated in a food drive on campus then you have seen a little of what the House of Delegates does? In addition to these events the House of Delegates sponsors other activities like the UAMS talent show, UAMS employee night at the Traveler’s ball game and the UAMS volleyball tournament and bowling league.

The House of Delegates also works on behalf of the campus by sponsoring proposals such as the addition of a second shuttle for employees parking at War Memorial as well as a campus Day Care.

These are just a few of the things that The House of Delegates, in tandem with other campus entities, works to bring to the UAMS campus.
