The Arkansas Poison Control Center at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences (UAMS) answers telephone calls for help at all hours and from all over Arkansas. Quick answers on the telephone can save poison victims in about 80 percent of cases, according to Howell Foster, Pharm.D., managing director of the center.
The center is part of a network of 70 poison control centers connected to a single hotline telephone number: 1-800-222-1222. Other numbers that can reach the poison control center are: 1-800-376-4766 (1800-3POISON) and
501-686-6161.
