Education Building

UAMS has traditionally produced many of the health care professionals in Arkansas, from doctors and nurses to pharmacists and those in the varied allied health professions.
As the state’s only academic health sciences campus, UAMS is committed to meeting the majority of Arkansas’ health care work force needs. We are challenged by an aging population requiring more care from a health care system already facing work force shortages.
UAMS has been expanding enrollment in many of its programs. But we need more classrooms to continue adding more students.
In November 2006, Arkansas voters agreed and approved a bond program that will pay for a new education building at UAMS. This facility will be a big boost for UAMS, allowing us to produce even more new doctors, nurses and other health care professionals who are likely to work in Arkansas.

Project Description
The planned two-story building of approximately 43,000-square-feet is expected to include 14 25-seat classrooms, two 40-seat classrooms and two 232-seat auditoriums. Construction of the facility is scheduled to begin in summer 2007.
The facility will be located on Hooper Drive on the UAMS campus, next to the campus’ other education buildings.
