ArkansasCancer Research Center Phase II
In 1994, Phase II of the Arkansas Cancer Research Center building was completed, adding floors five through 11.
The addition brought this building to 189,017 square feet for patient care, education and research. The research facilities were expanded with 26 more labs for a total of 45 in the building.
In 2005, plans for a much-needed expansion were underway. In April 2006, Gov. Mike Huckabee signed into law a bill allowing UAMS to borrow up to $40 million in bonds to help pay for the planned expansion, expected to be completed in about three years.
