Education Building I

The Education Building I (right) with the hospital in the background.

The Education Building I was named in 1981 for the late Winston K. Shorey, M.D., who was dean of the College of Medicine from 1961-1974.

This was the first building at UAMS dedicated to research and education. Within its 166,265 square feet were 41 education labs. As later buildings were completed, the function of this building has changed, but its dedication to education and research continue.
