Funding Needs: College of Nursing

The UAMS College of Nursing has a proud legacy of service to the people of Arkansas.  Its nursing education meets the highest standards and its graduates bring expertise, dedication, and compassion to their profession.  At the same time, it has excelled in nursing research and community service initiatives.  The College trains students to think critically and to make clinical judgments that promote, restore, and maintain good health. The education nursing students receive at UAMS benefits the people of Arkansas many times over in hospitals, community clinics, and nursing homes throughout the state.

Each year the College moves closer to its goal of becoming one of the leading schools of nursing in the nation: Its nurses are skilled clinicians, researchers, administrators, consultants, and professional experts, serving Arkansas and beyond; it ranks as one of the leading nursing colleges in the nation in National Institutes of Health-funded research; and its faculty members and administrators have held national and international leadership positions in nursing and related professional organizations.  Philanthropy has been a major factor in the success of the College and UAMS, and will be critical to its future.  Together with our generous and loyal supporters, we are building on our accomplishments and planning for a stronger future.

Your gifts are essential in maintaining the excellence in education, research, and service for which UAMS is known.  You can make a difference in four major areas of the College of Nursing:

    • Endowed Faculty chairs and professorships will have an immediate effect: they will bolster enrollments and strengthen programs now threatened by non-competitive salaries and a shortage of doctoral-level faculty.
    • Endowed scholarships will assure that well into the future, deserving students who wish to devote their lives to nursing will have the means to do so.
    • State of the art Facilities will provide nursing students the computers and lab equipment that mirror those they will be using in today’s hospitals.
    • Your support of nursing Research can help bolster the overall quality of both individual health and the health care system.
