The pool, located in the Jackson T. Stephens Spine and
Neurosciences Institute is open to UAMS employees as well as the community. It is junior
Olympic-size and has a walking track in
the water, which goes around the perimeter of the pool. Ten
times around is equivalent to the work of a mile. It is
wonderful for cross-training because it decreases impact on the joints,
promotes core stability 100% of the time, and then there is the water
resistance that adds to the benefits.
It is kept at about 89 degrees, and we have a variety of classes for a wide range of
interests and levels of ability. We also have a
whirlpool for relaxation.
The fee structure:
Employees who are UAMS fitness center members – No additional fee (included in the fitness center dues)
Employees who are not fitness center members - $25 a month or six months for $120
Community fee - $35 a month and parking is validated
Pool Phone Number: 501-661-7955
Location
Basement floor of the Jackson T. Stephens Spine and Neuroscience Institute.
