UAMS Water Wellness Class Descriptions

Open Fitness
Free time for you to do your own fitness program: walk the water track, practice exercises learned in physical therapy, jog in deep water, etc. You are always welcome to use the track at any time even if you are not participating in a class.

Deep Water
Suspended water exercise accomplished with flotation devices, provide a non-impact vertical workout with unrestricted range of motion movements and challenging cardiovascular conditioning.

Aqua Aerobics
Workout combines cardiovascular conditioning with strength training to improve posture, performance and body composition. Exercising all the major muscle groups provides cardiovascular conditioning and all the minor muscle groups improve or maintain strength.

Core Conditioning
Develop core strength and muscle balance through dynamic and static movements emphasizing abdominals and back. Class uses floatation devices to target specific abdominal, thigh, and back muscles.

Aqua Arthritis
Researched and designed exercises from the Arthritis foundation help you improve joint flexibility and improve joint range of motion and strengthening in this enjoyable, safe recreational class.

Fibro Wave
Exercises designed specifically for people with fibromyalgia and chronic pain. "Active relaxation" stretching and light strength training are emphasized. Functional endurance and musculoskeletal flexibility are enhanced in this class.

Cardio Wave
The water provides an ideal medium for performing cardiorespiratory exercises with lower cardiac cost and lower impact on your joints.

Back to Basics
Discover a new way to develop core strength, muscle balance, flexibility and postural awareness. A variety of exercises are incorporated; including water walking and a variety of upper and lower body moves designed to challenge stability, balance and alignment.

Back Blast
Integrated upper and lower body exercises to strengthen the postural muscles that support the back, heart and lungs. Deep water exercises are incorporated to lengthen and strengthen the muscles of the spine.

Yogalates
Principles of yoga, tai chi and pilates are utilized in the water to help balance the body and focus the mind. Flexibility, alignment, and breathing are stressed in this stress-management and relaxation class.

Aqua Kickboxing
Blow off some steam and take it to the next level by applying the resistance of the water as you jump, pump, jab, kick and punch your way to becoming faster, stronger, leaner, longer!

Splash and Sculpt
Lift your spirits and take time to stretch and strengthen in a class that utilized the properties of water to work all of the muscles and joints and adds cardiovascular work to strengthen the heart.

Aqua Orientation
Enhance your initial introduction to the aquatic environment with a class designed to help you adapt and modify movements and balance in the water.

Aqua Chi
Unwind at the end of the day with a meditation in motion, stretching and relaxation class enhanced by deep cleansing breaths and gentle movement.
