Welcome to the Clinical Research Center!
The new UAMS Clinical Research Center (CRC)
has a metabolic kitchen and satellite units at the VA Medical Center,
Arkansas Children's Hospital, Institute on Aging, Cancer Institute and
the Psychiatric Research Institute. This transformed CRC is the Arkansas
CCTR's premier resource for supporting investigators and research
participants.
The management plan for CRC and its satellite units includes a baseline
level of support and a flexible schedule for supporting studies. In
addition to providing specialized research space and traditional
services such as nursing support, dietary consultation, a metabolic
kitchen, biostatistical support, informatics consultation and
specialized core laboratories. CRC coordinators are now available to
assist in front end protocol development, the regulatory aspects of
protocol management, recruitment of research subjects, and other needs
as specified by the protocol.
We are excited to be in the planning stages of a ~7,000 sq ft CRC with
an adjacent ~5,000 sq ft for CCTR administrative offices. Construction
of the new UAMS Hospital will allow current hospital functions to move
into the new 550,000sq-ft hospital. UAMS will have excellent space for
the CCTR, CRC, and coordinated administrative functions in the
previously existing hospital space. This will greatly improve research
coordination and integration of CCTR components.
The CRC Mission
The primary purpose of the CRC is to provide clinical research infrastructure to investigators in
human-based research who are funded by the NIH or by federal, state, and
local agencies and the private sector. The Center provides space, staff and
other resources to further translational research in Arkansas and acts as a
catalyst for collaboration among basic and clinical scientists.
The Center serves as an institutional resource for new clinical investigators to
complete pilot studies that may result in extramural funding. The CRC also
provides educational programs and grants in support of new investigators.
