Dr. Emanuel is also the Executive Director of the Winthrop P. Rockefeller
Cancer Institute. He oversees the overall direction of the CRC, including
administrative, patient-care, and research-reporting issues, and serves on
the CCTR Steering Committee. He oversees all clinical and patient
interactions and facilitates integration of the CRC and specialized cancer
research conducted in the Cancer Institute. Dr. Emanuel is PI of two active
R01s, and he has been PI of NCI-sponsored cooperative group studies and a
multitude of clinical protocols, both investigator-initiated and
pharmaceutical-sponsored, and recipient of K24 and T32 grants.
Associate Program Directors
The Associate Program Directors assist the
Director in organizing the CRC and in using the CRC to achieve the long-term
goals of the Arkansas CCTR.

Dr. Wells, with ties to ACH and expertise in pediatrics, will ensure that
pediatric protocols requesting CRC resources are supported on a par with
those at the main campus. Dr. Wells' roles as CCTR Research Subject Advocate
and Director of the CCTR "Regulatory" program component are complementary.
Dr. Wells, Professor of Medicine, currently serves as the Medical Director
for the Pediatric Clinical Research Unit at ACH, as well as Director of the
UAMS Research Support Center, a core campus facility providing support to
investigators in the areas of budget, coverage review, and regulatory
advice.

Drs. Emanuel, Rasouli, and Wells are assisted by Dr. Hough, Distinguished
Professor of Pathology, through his institutional role as Associate Dean for
Translational Research. Dr. Hough has extensive experience with research
administration and regulatory affairs and serves as Chair of the SAC and as
a member of the CCTR Executive Steering Committee.

Ms. Henrich manages all administrative and fiscal activities of the CRC and
oversees the daily activities of the CRC and non-nursing program personnel;
implements the policies of the CRC Advisory Committee and Program Director;
provides information to investigators about resource availability; maintains
records for accounting purposes according to NIH guidelines; and handles
day-to-day accounting, budgets, and personnel issues.

Ms. Smith, Project Program Specialist, supports
the Program Director and the CRC Administrative Director in their duties,
keeps records and maintains files, performs general clerical duties, orders
general supplies and software for the CDMAS unit as needed, maintains
minutes of the CRC Advisory Committee, and schedules CRC related travel
arrangements.

Ms. Harmon manages the metabolic kitchen and oversees dietary technicians.
She also plans and implements all meals and dietary interventions for all
CRC projects. In addition, she provides dietary advice for any project
in which research volunteers are asked to maintain a certain type of diet
for short or long term periods.

The Informatics Core Director assists
investigators in designing and using database software; assists the CRC
Administrator in maintaining necessary records; helps integrate systems of
research subject scheduling, inpatient and outpatient census, and sample processing.
The Director works with the biostatisticians in assisting
investigators in statistical analysis of data. The Director also plays an
active role in teaching investigators how to use computers and software
applications in clinical research. |
