CBA Analysis
The cytometric bead array ( CBA ) allows the measurement of soluble cytokines and other proteins in serum or cell culture supernatant. The multiplexed method detects the concentrations of up to 6 different soluble proteins in a single 50 microliter sample.
Multiple bead populations with distinct fluorescence in tensities that are measured in the FL-3 channel are coated with capture antibodies specific for multiple soluble proteins. PE-conjugated detection antibodies are mixed with the beads and samples to form "sandwich" complexes similar to the ELISA. The BD Biosciences CBA software is capable of determining the concentration of the soluble proteins based on standards provided in each kit, and produces a table of the results in Microsoft Excel format.
As with all flow cytometry services, appointments must be made in advance , and since the kits are not stocked regularly in our lab, extra time will be required to order the kits.
Because BD Biosciences regularly adds to, and apparently subtracts from, the kits they carry, follow this link to the BD website and use the search box in the top right corner to find kits offered by BD Biosciences. Typing "CBA" will link to all CBA kits and Flex Set kits. The protocols are also available this way, under "TDS" for each kit.
Please contact Flow Facility personnel before placing an order for a CBA kit.
