The Emergency
Medicine Residency at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences has
been providing quality post-graduate medical education since 1983. Our
residents complete the program and proceed to positions at community
hospitals, fellowship programs, and at academic institutions ranging
geographically from Hawaii to Massachusetts.
The clinical
experience for our residents takes place primarily at the University of Arkansas
for Medical Sciences Medical Center (UAMS) and at Arkansas Children's Hospital
(ACH). UAMS is a tertiary care referral center for the state of Arkansas. The
Emergency Department sees primarily adults with an average annual patient volume
of 42,000 visits and an admission rate of 19%. With an average annual volume of
approximately 41,000 ACH provides an excellent clinical experience in
pediatrics. Our residents complete their residency not only having had
experience in the pediatric ED, but also the Pediatric ICU as well as with Angel
One Transport. Angel One is an air ambulance service that transports critically
ill patients from Arkansas and the surrounding states to Arkansas Children's Hospital.
It is with great pleasure that I invite you to consider UAMS for
your Emergency Medicine education. I welcome you to e-mail us with any questions
you have about our program.
