One of the requirements for graduation from the residency in emergency medicine is the completion of a research project. Residents can participate in projects that are published in internationally recognized journals such as the Annals of Emergency Medicine, Academic Emergency Medicine, and The Journal of Emergency Medicine. There are opportunities to present research at national conferences, and every year, the Department sponsors a Research Day where residents present the results of their projects for their colleagues and faculty. The Department actively seeks funding for research projects from diverse sources and even sponsors a competition for an in house resident research grant. There is also dedicated research staff to assist residents with projects.
