The purpose of this page is to provide interested residency candidates with information about the location of our program and the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences. While not exhaustive, the following links will provide an overview of quality of life, facilities, and employment opportunities (for your spouse or domestic partner) in Little Rock and the surrounding area.

The Arkansas state capitol in Little Rock is where Bill Clinton started his road to the White House. Completed in the early 1900's, it is a one quarter scale replica of the national capitol in Washington, D.C. The capitol is still the nerve center of Arkansas government where a part time state legislature meets every two years.

Historic Hillcrest is a neighborhood adjacent to the UAMS campus. There are many loft style apartments with hard wood floors and some older homes that can be rented and or purchased. Hillcrest is home to many professionals with a variety of school options ranging from private education to award winning public schools. Hillcrest is a pleasant mix of surburban and commercial development with a wooded park for hiking and mountain biking.

Alltel Arena is Little Rock's newest entertainment venue. Artists such as Elton John, Faith Hill, Creed, and Britney Spears have performed here. The Arena is also home to the Riverblades ice hockey team and the Arkansas Twisters arena football team.

War Memorial Stadium is host to at least three Arkansas Razorback football games per year.  Other events have included the Eagles and the Rolling Stones, as well as many other artists.
