The
University of Arkansas is proud of its emergency medicine
residency program and is committed to its success.
This program was established in 1983, when
emergency medicine was young, and is the only residency in
the state of Arkansas.
The residents enjoy a diversified educational
experience including cadaver labs, a superb experience in
pediatric helicopter transport, and training in SWAT team
and tactical medicine.
The university takes pride in the high quality of
its graduates in emergency medicine, reflected in their
over 95% pass rate on the oral and written board
examinations in the last three years.
Graduates have gone on to hold positions of
leadership as directors of ED’s, and the emergency
medicine faculty are leaders in emergency medicine,
including a president of Arkansas ACEP.
The residents and faculty influence the medical
students, and many of the best medical students at the
University of Arkansas have chosen emergency medicine.
The chairman, Dr. Barry Brenner, brings a
distinguished and national reputation in academic
emergency medicine, clinical research, and commitment to
residency education to the department.
As Chancellor, I dedicate unswerving support for
this excellent residency program.
