The Department of Emergency Medicine at UAMS
has a very rich and distinguished history. Founded in 1983,
it has been training Emergency Medicine physicians for
Arkansas and the South for over two decades. Past residents
have gone on to be everything from small town emergency
physicians to chairpersons of both academic and private
practice emergency departments. Our graduates have become
faculty members at many prestigious institutions including
Johns Hopkins, Duke, UAMS, and Scott and White hospitals.
We have among our graduates the President of the Arkansas
Chapter of the American College of Emergency Physicians.
The Department of Emergency Medicine remains dedicated not
only to creating good physicians, but good leaders in both
Emergency Medicine and their communities.
