University Hospital:

The University Hospital of Arkansas, opened in 1955, is the central teaching facility for residencies in 25 specialties, including Internal Medicine. A significant fraction of this 400-bed facility has been renovated. The major renovations include:

  • A bone marrow transplant unit
  • A renal transplantation unit
  • A cardiac arrhythmia center
  • A new hemodialysis facility
  • An intermediate care step-down unit
  • State-of-the-art emergency room facilities
  • A heart-lung unit

The new bed tower (shown above) includes an additional 60 acute care beds, 30 additional intensive care beds.
