Dr. Thapa is:
* an active clinician at Arkansas' principal public mental health inpatient facility, the Arkansas State Hospital,
* the Director of Research at the state's Research and Training Institute, AMHRTI, and
* a practiced pharmacoepidemiologist with extensive experience conducting large epidemiologic studies. 

He is currently Co-Principal Investigator on Planning Improved Medication Management for Arkansas Serious Mental Illness (SMI) - a project designed to improve medication management for persons with schizophrenia in Arkansas by achieving a stakeholder consensus on priority problem areas.
