Teresa L. Kramer, Ph.D.

Dr. Kramer was recently appointed the Associate Director of the UAMS Psychiatric Research Institute. As Associate Director, she is responsible for incorporating and coordinating the Department of Psychiatry's clinical programs, helping to communicate and promote the new Institute, and developing strategies to increase the Institute's capacity to be of service to the state.

Dr. Kramer's research interests cover methods to validate performance measures for depression treatment, the variability of and factors influencing treatment for depressed individuals in mental health and primary care settings, and testing interventions to improve the quality of care. She is currently the Principal Investigator of Delta Positive Reinforcement of Minors to Increase Self Esteem (Delta PROMISE).  She is the Co-Investigator of a supplement that will assess health services access of rural stimulant users and is also Co-Investigator for a project that will measure combat-related PTSD for military personnel.

Past research has included:
+ a project to improve care for depressed adolescents in community mental health centers,
+ a project with Dr. Richard Owen that explored evidence-based components of care for depressed adults,
+ and a project with Dr. Joann E. Kirchner studying the effectiveness of mental health education programs for K-12 schoolteachers.
