Division of Health Services Research
The Division of Health Services Research (DHSR)
is a part of the Department of Psychiatry, UAMS College of Medicine. Previously
known as the Centers for Mental Health Care Research, DHSR has been recognized as one of the largest, most comprehensive
and most innovative health services research centers in the nation for over a
decade. DHSR has received a tremendous
amount of support from NIMH and the VA since it was formally organized in
1990. DHSR was home to an NIMH Center from 1990 until 2004, and
it is currently the home of two VA-funded research centers
(see box) and a
Fellowship Training Program in Mental Health Services
Research.
Mission:
To improve mental health care
in the United States through the development,
implementation, and dissemination of policy relevant health
services research.

The researchers at DHSR
published
60 articles and 2
book chapters in 2006 and
47 articles in 2007.
So far this year they have published
24
articles and they have 6 articles in press.
Grants: Since 1990, researchers
working at DHSR have been awarded extramural grants worth
well over 80 million dollars in direct costs, and they have
served on most of the major HSR study sections that review
mental health and substance abuse health services research
(including NIMH, NIDA, and VA HSR committees).
DHSR has 82 employees: 18
faculty
and 64 staff.
