PETER I. SONG, M.D.
Peter I. Song, Ph.D. is an Assistant Professor and Director of Research in the Department of Dermatology at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences. Dr. Song received his bachelor’s and master’s degrees from the Korea University in the Republic of Korea (ROK, South Korea). He received his doctoral degree from the Chung-Ang University in the ROK in 1994, and completed a post-doctoral fellowship in 1996 at Emory University School of Medicine in Atlanta, Georgia. In 1997, Dr. Song became a Research Instructor and in 1999, he was appointed Research Assistant Professor at Emory University. In 2002, he was transferred to Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine as a Research Assistant Professor. Dr. Song was appointed an Assistant Professor in the tenure track at the University of Colorado at Denver and Health Sciences Center (UCDHSC) in 2004 and transferred to UAMS College of Medicine Department of Dermatology in 2007. Dr. Song is a member of the Society for Investigative Dermatology. His research focuses on the Toll-like receptor (TLR)-mediated innate immune responses in the skin and eye. Dr. Song’s research interests also include the immunotherapeutic effects of antimicrobial peptides on acne vulgaris and corneal bacterial infections.
