Orientation 2002

 

Orientation at the Clinical Skills Center gives first year medical students an opportunity to learn how to take vital signs and to become familiar with the different equipment in the exam rooms. The students divide into groups. A senior medical students will demonstrate how to use the equipment or perform a task then the first year students will practice on each other.

A senior medical student shows the proper way to take a blood pressure. Each student is then required to take a reading on anther student. The readings will then be used during another exercise.

The a first year students takes the blood pressure of a fellow student while a senior medical student observes.

Looking in ear

The otoscope and ophthalmoscope are two of the instruments that are demonstrated. Here students are shown how to use the otoscope to examine an ear.

 

 

 

Using a stethoscope may seem fairly simple, but if you put the ear pieces in backwards you won't hear anything. This senior shows the proper way.
