CPX

 

The Center for Clinical Skills Education offers a practice Step 2 CS exam in the spring. While participation not mandatory, it is recommended. To view the Physical Exam on line, click here.

Students can schedule their CPX by calling or emailing Adele Lloyd . Please include your mailing address, telephone numbers.

All students will be tested on 5 cases and will receive documented results on their exam. Those students scoring below a total of 70% on all 5 cases will be asked to come back to the CCSE for remediation

Each student would see 5 cases and they will be modeled after the USMLE format. To include:

  • Heart/Chest
  • OB/GYN, Surgery, Ab exam
  • Headache/Neuro exam
  • Leg Pain/DVT
  • Peds/Phone case
  • Psychiatry
  • Constitutional
  • Gastrointestinal
  • Genitourinary
  • Musculoskeletal
  • Respiratory
  • Communication: Patient Physician Interaction Form
  • Patient note/Consult note

The checklist and rating methods result in the assessment of 3 primary components for the Step 2 CS.

1) The Integrated Clinical Encounter

  • History taking
  • Physical examination
  • Patient note

2) Communication/Interpersonal Skills

3) Spoken English Proficiency

In order to pass Step 2 CS, you must pass each of these components in a single administration year.
