Pastoral Care for Patients and Caregivers
Pastoral care at UAMS Medical Center addresses the religious needs of patients and their families in conjunction with their medical care. UAMS chaplains are available 24 hours a day to provide pastoral and emotional support to patients, families and employees.
Our Pastoral Care office hours are from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday. A chaplain is on call 24 hours a day. Ask your nurse to call the chaplain or, during office hours, you may call 686-5410.
The Pastoral Care staff and chaplain trainees provide interfaith ministry through the variety of faith affiliations they represent. In addition, clergy of all faith traditions visit the hospital regularly and can be contacted by staff members at a patient’s request. Your personal pastor is also welcome to visit during your stay.
The nondenominational Samuel Moore Walton Memorial Chapel is located in the Ward Tower, room 1E90 diagonally across from the Gourmet Bean. The Walton Memorial Chapel is open daily from 6:00 a.m. to 8:30 p.m. and is available for prayer, meditation and personal worship. Ecumenical worship services are conducted every Sunday at 10:00 a.m. Special worship services may be held in conjunction with major religious holidays.
Chaplains can be reached by phone at 686-5410 and by beeper at 688-2060. |
