Facial Cosmetic Surgery Center

What we can do
Here are just some of the ways the Facial Cosmetic Surgery Center can enhance your image.

Ear surgery
Ear surgery, or otoplasty is performed on adults, adolescents and children to relieve the mental stress and embarrassment associated with large or protruding ears by altering the shape and contour of the ear to complement facial structure and head size.

Facial implants
Facial implants can alter your face to enhance an area or bring it into balance. Chin, cheek and jaw implants are available through our center.

Face lift (or rhytidectomy)
A face lift removes major wrinkles and sagging facial skin by repositioning and tightening the underlying facial muscle and connective tissue and trimming the excess skin.

Forehead lift or eyebrow lift
These procedures correct forehead wrinkling and drooping eyebrows by tightening the loose skin, removing part of the muscle that is responsible for the deep vertical frown lines between the brows. A minimally invasive endoscopic forehead lift is available.

Dr. Emre Vural with the UAMS Facial Cosmetic Surgery Center offers the "Endotine Forehead". This is an innovative, bioabsorbable device designed to improve aesthetic results of brow lift surgery for patients who would like to eliminate creases or sagging eyebrows that can cause a person to appear tired or upset, even when they are not. The goal of this procedure is to deliver a more youthful, relaxed and refreshed appearance.

Endotine Forehead is placed under the skin, where it absorbs over time, eliminating the need for removal. Additionally, because Endotine Forehead eliminates the need for sutures to secure the skin in its new position, the risk of hair loss due to damaged follicles is minimized.

Upper and lower eyelid surgery (or blepharoplasty)
Eyelid surgery corrects droopy eyelids and eliminates puffiness and bags under the eyes by removing excess fat, muscle and skin from both the upper and lower eyelids.

Nose surgery (or rhinoplasty)
Removing or rearranging some of the bone and cartilage can reshape a less-than-perfect nose.

Laser skin resurfacing
Skin resurfacing removes wrinkles and fine lines that come from age or sun exposure. Some acne scars also can be treated with lasers. Unlike a chemical peel, lasers offer precision, concentrating only on the areas that need treatment. Wrinkles that in years past would have been considered untreatable can now be safely removed. Skin should be fully regrown two weeks after treatment.

Hair removal procedure
One advantage of lasers is their ability to treat very small targets without damaging surrounding tissue. Melanin, the brownish black pigment found in active growing hair, absorbs the light and turns it into heat. This heat destroys the unwanted hair follicle. Highly advanced lasers make if possible to treat large surfaces such as legs.

Removal of sun spots, freckles, birthmarks, warts and skin growths
Lasers can effectively target and destroy the cells that make up many marks and skin growths, effectively erasing them without damaging surrounding tissue.

Removal of tattoos
Lasers remove layers of skin that contain tattoo ink and other substances. Our techniques cause virtually no scarring.

Chemical peel and dermabrasion
These procedures refresh the appearance of facial skin, minimizing wrinkles and fine lines. A chemical peel uses one of several chemicals to exfoliate the outer layers of skin. Dermabrasion uses a high-speed, rotating brush to remove the top layer of skin.

Botox injections
Forehead lines, crow’s feet and frown lines between the eyebrows can by decreased or eliminated with the injection of a very dilute form of botulinum toxin into the muscles around the eyes. This decreases the muscle activity associated with wrinkle formation.

Collagen and hyaluronic acid injections
Collagen and hyaluronic acid injections enhance the contour of the lips, giving them a full and well-defined appearance. These fillers are also used to decrease the appearance of wrinkles or scars.

Liposuction
This procedure improves overall appearance by reducing and recontouring localized collections of fat in the face and neck.

Somnoplasty
(a treatment for snoring)
Somnoplasty uses low-energy, low-temperature radiofrequency to reduce and tighten the enlarged soft palate and uvula at the back of the mouth - the tissue that most commonly obstructs the airway and causes snoring. The procedure typically takes less than 30 minutes, and snoring should gradually decrease over the next few weeks.
