Andreas Muller,
Ph.D., Professor of Health Policy and
Management, Vice Chair for Academic Affairs,
Department of Health Policy and Management,
Director of MHSA program since 2005. Before the
transfer of the MHSA program to UAMS, he served
as Professor and Chair of the Department of
Health Services Administration, University of
Arkansas at Little Rock.
Dr. Muller began his education at the Maximilian
University in Munich, Germany. He received his
Masters and Ph.D. degrees in Sociology from
Binghamton University, NY, in 1977. During his
graduate education he served first as an
assistant and later as the Director of Planning
for a Health Systems Agency in Binghamton. NY.
During 1978-79 he was awarded a post-doctoral
fellow at Johns-Hopkins University, School of
Hygiene and Public Health where he specialized
in health economics and injury control.
Dr. Muller research ranges form policy analysis
in injury control to evaluation of Medicaid
program changes in the State of Arkansas. He
served as a member of the national scientific
advisory panel for the Department of Veteran
Affairs. He worked on a research contract with
EDS on Medicaid pharmaceutical expenditure and
pharmaceutical utilization review in the State
of Arkansas. More recently, he has contributed
to the literature on social determinants of
health. His
academic contributions have been published
leading health care and public health journals.
Dr Muller has been teaching graduate level
courses on the U.S. health care system, decision
analysis, strategic planning and marketing,
health statistics.
