Community Partners

We currently have four model community partners:

Rural Public Health Model Demonstration Community Partner:

Boys, Girls, Adults Community Development Center (BGACDC) is a 25-year old parenting organization based in Marvell, (Phillips County) Arkansas which provides educational and youth development programs, early childhood development programs, adult education, health care services, and economic development programs.  It also operates a restaurant and a senior housing complex.

Based in Helena (Phillips County), Walnut Street Works and its affiliates, the Tri-County Rural Health Network and Habitat for Humanity, serve communities in Phillips, Monroe, and Lee counties through community-development programs that address health care, affordable housing, racial disparities, and community empowerment.

Urban Public Health Model Demonstration Community Partners:

We Care, Inc., based in Higgins, Arkansas, has been serving the predominately African-American population of southeast Pulaski County for approximately 15 years.  Among other services, We Care, Inc. provides after school educational programs and summer programs for youth.

La Casa, based in southwest Little Rock (Pulaski County) Arkansas, was established in the last few years to serve as a resource for the growing Latino/Hispanic population of the area.  It links individuals to services as well as operates a number of health promotion activities, such as a tobacco cessation program.
