Research
Interests:
The main focus of my research is on Bioinformatics
applications and techniques to data generated from high-throughput
technologies in cancer studies.
The completion of the Human Genome Project and the
International HapMap Project have made it possible for us to elucidate
the genetic contributions to common diseases. Single nucleotide
polymorphisms (SNPs) distributed across the genome are the most common
form of human genome variation.
My current work involves genome wide association
studies to understand the genetic variations and their association with
behavioral and environmental factors in breast cancer patients. These
studies aid the interpretation of the variations in gene expressions and
the risk of breast cancer.
