Dear Former STEER Participants:
The Hispanic-Serving professions Schools (HSHPS) is now accepting applications for its summer 2008 training Programs!
Every year, HSHPS offers public health and medical graduate students the opportunity to work with organizations, such as the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, the National Center of Health Statistics, and the National Institute for occupational Safety and Health, as well as other member universities throughout the country, through its internship and fellowship programs. Students gain field experience and learn in-depth about the prevalent issues affecting Hispanics in the United States.

This summer, program will be held in the following areas:
Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, Atlanta, GA
National Center of Health Statistics, Hyattsville, MD
National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health, Cincinnati, OH
FRONTERA, Tucson, AZ
US-Mexico border Environmental Health Fellowship, Harlingen/ Laredo, TX
Cancer Prevention and Control, San Juan, Puerto Rico
HIV/AIDS and Associated Comorbidities in the US-Mexico Border, San Diego, CA
*Paid internships and fellowships for medical and public health graduate students interested in improving Hispanic health
*Learn in-depth about disease treatment and prevention, HIV/AIDS, cancer prevention and control, and other health and environmental
Issues affecting the US-Mexico Border
*Trainees will work in collaboration with their own principal mentor and gain fieldwork experience in any one of the seven locations throughout the US
*Provide essential resources for academic and career development
