Program Overview

During their fourth professional year at the UAMS College of Pharmacy, students participate in the Advanced Experiential Education Program. The program consists of nine one-month experiences. These experiences are offered from June 1 through April 30. There will be no rotations conducted during the month of December except with special permission. Each experience must be completed within the calendar month in which it is assigned. A minimum of 160 hours is required to complete a rotation. The preceptor, in consultation with the student, will determine rotation hours.

P-4 Advanced Experiential Education Requirements

In order to complete the Experiential Education Program and graduate from the College of Pharmacy, students must meet specific rotation requirements. These are:

Direct Patient Care Rotations (5) - every student will be assigned to five direct patient care experiences:

  • Three (3) Acute/Primary Care Experience
  • One (1) Ambulatory Care Experience
  • One (1) of the following: Advanced Community Pharmacy Clerkship in either Disease State Management or Nonprescription Drugs.

Indirect Patient Care Rotations (2) - every student will be assigned to two rotations:

  • One (1) Hospital/Health System Management Experience
  • One (1) Community Management Experience

Elective Rotations (2) - every student will be assigned to two elective rotations

  • To be assigned from any approved rotations.
