Advanced Community Pharmacy Experiences

Welcome to the Advanced Community Practice Experience website. These pages are to be used as a reference for students during their Advance Community Practice rotation. The information on the website is divided based on what type of experience the student is doing, Medication Therapy Management (DSM) or Non-Prescription Medications (OTC). The website it to be used in conjunction with the manual the student received during orientation.

Don’t forget to call Dr. Hastings or Dr. Pace within 1 week prior
to starting your rotation.

ACPE Mission Statement:

The purpose of the advanced community practice experience is to integrate pharmaceutical care into community pharmacy settings and to embrace the concept that the pharmacist must be responsible and accountable for optimal drug therapy.  During the course of this experience, the pharmacy student will be given an opportunity to provide direct patient care in the community pharmacy practice environment, to refine their skills in communication, patient care, health and wellness promotion, and practice management and to gain the experience and abilities needed to prosper professionally in a competitive health care system.  Emphasis will also be placed on utilizing primary literature and evidence-based medicine to determine therapeutic plans.
