Dr. Zheng received her PhD degree in Molecular Endocrinology from Department of Biology, University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB). She received her postdoctoral training at the Center for Heart Failure Research, Department of Medicine at UAB.
Dr. Zheng is a Research Instructor in the Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences (UAMS), and is a member of the Division of Radiation Health in the College of Pharmacy.
Dr. Zheng’s research focuses on how stimulation of mast cells in response to radiation contributes to intestinal inflammation and/or fibrosis by activating protease activated receptors 2(PAR2). Her expertise also includes using high-information content microarrays to study the regulation of mast cells on intestinal gene expression and injury at acute and late radiation injury in wild type and mast cell deficient rats.
