Dr. Boerma received a PhD degree in Radiation Biology from Leiden University, The Netherlands, in 2004.
Dr. Boerma is Assistant Professor of Pharmaceutical Sciences at University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences (UAMS), member of the College of Pharmacy Division of Radiation Health, and scientist at Central Arkansas Veterans Healthcare System (CAVHS).
Dr. Boerma’s research focuses on cancer survivorship issues, particularly radiation-induced heart disease, and on development of medical countermeasures against radiological/nuclear accidents or terrorism.
Dr. Boerma has published 30 peer reviewed scientific articles and book chapters. Her research has received support from the American Heart Association and the Lance Armstrong Foundation. She has served as external reviewer for several scientific journals.
