Faculty

Philip Breen, B.S. (Pharmacy), Ph.D.
Associate Professor

Degrees

Ph.D., Massachusetts College of Pharmacy

Teaching Specialty

Pharmacokinetics

Undergraduate Courses: Pharmacokinetics / Biopharmaceutics I, Computers in Pharmacokinetics

Graduate Courses: Advanced Biopharmaceutics and Pharmacokinetics, Pharmacokinetic Research Design  and Data Analysis

Research Interests

Pharmacokinetics and Pharmacodynamics of Inhaled Drugs; Pharmacokinetics and Pharmacodynamics in Microgravity; Food Safety.

The objective of my pharmacokinetic research is to determine the mathematical relationship between a drug's dose and its plasma concentration; while my pharmacokinetic / pharmacodynamic research aims at the determination mathematical models that will predict pharmacological effect directly from dose regimen data. My food safety research involves the application of antimicrobial agents to greatly inhibit the growth of viable food pathogens and to reduce their number on a wide variety of food surfaces.

Campus Service Activities

Student mentor; Member of curriculum, admissions, and awards committees

Professional Honors

Recipient of one of the Inventors of the Year awards (1995)
