Teaching Specialty: Pharmacoeconomics and Health Care Technology Assessment, Applied Research Methods using Retrospective Data Sources, Research Design and Statistics

Research Interests

Dr. Martin’s research efforts have focused on conducting retrospective population based economic and epidemiologic studies using large administrative data sets and national health surveys. He has performed investigative research for a variety of corporations and research groups including the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality (formerly AHCPR), Pfizer, GlaxoSmithKline, Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Georgia and Merck and Company.  Dr. Martin’s research has been published in various medical journals including Schizophrenia Research, Journal of Clinical Psychiatry, Pharmacoepedemiology and Drug Safety, Clinical Therapeutics, Value in Health, Gerontology, Schizophrenia Bulletin, and Medical Care.

Dr. Martin is a member of the International Society for Pharmacoeconomics and Outcomes Research (ISPOR) and currently serves as Chair of the Retrospective Data Base Task Force of ISPOR.  He is on the editorial board of Current Research and Medical Opinion and serves as a reviewer for Clinical Therapeutics, Journal of the American Medical Association, Value in Health, Journal of Managed Care Pharmacy, Medical Care, Pharmacoeconomics, and Schizophrenia Bulletin.
