Lindy
and Steve Spaulding of Little Rock have been named chairs of the UAMS
College of Pharmacy Parents Club. As chairs, they will lead a club that
comprises more than 110 families who fund specific student-related projects.
The Club provides an avenue for parents to be informed about and involved in
activities and events at the College.
"We are pleased that the Spauldings have agreed to
serve in this important role as leaders of our Parents Club, an organization
that has been highly successful in only four years of existence. They
already have provided leadership and creative ideas to our club," said Dean
Stephanie Gardner.
Steve Spaulding is vice president of enterprise
networks for Arkansas Blue Cross Blue Shield. Lindy Spaulding is a former
teacher. They are parents of second-year pharmacy student Ashley Spaulding,
a graduate of Mount St. Mary's High School who attended the University of
Arkansas at Fayetteville for her undergraduate work.
"We are happy to be able to help support the students with our time and
energy," said Lindy Spaulding. "We hope to increase the membership and find
new ways to meet the needs of students. We want to support our daughter and
help other parents to be more involved also."
The Parents Club was
founded in 2007 and now comprises 90 families who pay dues of $50 per year.
The funds are used to provide the magazine to members and to pay for student
exam snacks, the Family Open House, Faculty Appreciation Lunch, and gifts
for graduates. Parents Club members receive two magazines per year, as well
as four e-newsletters and invitations to college events. For information on
