Payment of Tuition and Disbursement of Financial Aid

TUITION PAYMENTS

The amount of tuition listed in our Cost of Attendance Budget reflects the amount of tuition for the entire academic year. Though the College of Medicine holds no spring registration in January (you register for the entire year when you register in August or July), tuition is charged one semester at a time. Freshman and Sophomore registration is held in August, and Junior and Senior registration is in July.

First half of tuition plus all fees:      Due at Fall Registration

Second half of tuition:                      Due by January 15

All of the fees for the year are due in full at registration in August—fees are not charged in two installments. Failure to pay your tuition by the required due dates will result in your being placed on an administrative leave of absence.

Tuition Payments:             Student Financial Services (not Student Financial Aid):
College of Public Health, First Floor, Room 1232 A
                                           501-686-6128

Student Financial Services will be present at each Registration.

DISBURSEMENT OF AID

The Financial Aid Office will send you a Financial Aid Award Letter to notify you of your loan and scholarship amounts and disbursement dates. You will need to make sure your Promissory Notes for any loans you are receiving are signed several weeks before registration to ensure that your loans are disbursed on time. Federal regulations require federal loans to be disbursed in two equal installments: one at the beginning of the academic year, and one at the midpoint of the year.

The first disbursements of Stafford and Graduate Plus loans are wired to our school from your lender several days prior to registration and applied to your tuition and fee charges.  Institutional loans and institutional scholarships are applied to your tuition charges prior to registration as well, unless otherwise stated in your award letter. If the first half of your financial aid is more than the amount of tuition and fees due at registration, you will be given a check on the day of registration for the remainder of your financial aid.  If the first half of your financial aid is less than the amount of tuition and fees due at registration, you will need to pay the difference on the day of registration.

The second disbursements of your federal loans will be wired to the school in late December and applied to the second half of your tuition, along with the second disbursement of any institutional loan or scholarship. If the amount of your second disbursement of financial aid is more than the amount of your tuition, the remainder will be MAILED to you the first week in January. If the second disbursement of your financial aid is less than the amount of tuition you owe, you will need to pay the difference by January 15.
