Emergency Loans

DESCRIPTION: Unfortunately, emergencies occasionally occur during the course of the school year. Because federal loans are disbursed at specified periods during the year, and additional loans take several days to process, the College of Medicine has several sources from which to access small emergency loans: namely, the Oscar Fitzhugh Emergency Loan Fund and the Dr. Joe Hargrove Emergency Loan Fund. These small loans can generally be made available within 24 hours.  However, they must be repaid within 60 days from the date of receipt, and are generally timed so that they are repaid when you receive your federal loans at registration or midterm. No Interest is charged on emergency loans unless they exceed the 60-day repayment limit.

HOW TO APPLY: If you encounter a financial difficulty or emergency during the course of the school year and would like to request an emergency loan, please contact the Student Financial aid Office.
