Overview of Applying for Financial Aid

  1. File your 2009 Federal Income Tax Return.

     
  2. File the Department of Education’s 2010-2011 FREE APPLICATION FOR FEDERAL STUDENT AID (FAFSA) if:
  • you want to apply for any federal financial aid, such as Stafford loans or Primary Care Loans.
  • you want to be considered for any of the College of Medicine’s need-based scholarships.
     
  1. Submit a Scholarship Application to the Financial Aid Office by April 26, if you would like to apply for any of the College of Medicine's institutional Scholarships.  We encourage all students to apply.
  1. If you wish to apply for loans, complete the appropriate Loan Application and return to the Financial Aid Office by April 26:
  1.   Sign the appropriate Promissory Note for any loan that you are applying for:
  • Stafford Loans:  Sign online at  www.dlenote.ed.gov
  • Graduate Plus Loans:  Sign online at www.dlenote.ed.gov
  • Primary Care Loans:  You should receive a promissory note from the UAMS Office of Student Financial Services
     
    1. Complete Stafford and Graduate Plus Combined Loan Entrance Counseling online at www.mappingyourfuture.org if you will be applying for any Stafford or Graduate PLUS loans, and have not previously completed your entrance counseling requirement with the UAMS College of Medicine.
