The Clinical Immunology Laboratory offers procedures helpful in the diagnosis and monitoring of autoimmune diseases, immunodeficiencies, monoclonal gammopathies, chronic disease and inflammatory states, and infectious diseases.

Indirect immunofluorescence techniques are available for the detection of autoantibodies to nuclear antigens.  For the identification and differentiation of monoclonal gammopathies, serum and urine may be evaluated by protein electrophoresis and immunofixation electrophoresis (IFE).  Serum immunoglobulin quantitation including kappa and lambda free light chains are performed in the immunology department.
