Proficiency Surveys
and Quality Assurance
The Department of Clinical Laboratories participates in a number of proficiency surveys including those
provided by the following organizations:
- College of American Pathologists
(CAP) Surveys (all divisions of the laboratory)
- CAP
Links
- American Society of Histocompatibility
(ASHI) - HLA
- UCLA Cell Exchange - HLA
Such surveys periodically furnish
unknown samples for analysis, the results of which are compared
with those obtained by reference laboratories and other
laboratories throughout the country. Corrective action is
taken when the results indicate a problem with
assays performed in our laboratories. This system of external
quality assurance serves to monitor the extensive daily program
of internal quality assurance provided by the use of standards,
quality control sera, and review of laboratory data by
supervisors and directors.
