The Programs
The UAMS respiratory care
educational program offer a variety of options for prospective students.
All of the programs are fully accredited by the Committee on
Accreditation for Respiratory Care Education (CoARC).
Traditional programs offer a B.S. Degree for students who do not hold a
CRT and/or RRT credential and is available on the
Little Rock,
Texarkana, and Batesville campuses.
A three-year non-traditional program option is available to prospective
students who must still complete some program prerequisites, or who wish
to take a reduced course load due to work or family obligations.
In order to be eligible for the three-year track, students must have
completed a minimum of 34 SC of the required 62 SC of program
prerequisites prior to enrolling in the Respiratory Care Program.
Students admitted to this program track must successfully complete the
Human Anatomy and Physiology requirement prior to the first semester. The student may then complete up to 29 SC of program prerequisite course
work during Years 1 and 2 of the three-year track. Year 3 of this
program option is a full time course load. All other program
admission requirements must be met in order to be admitted to the
three-year program option. Prospective students who are
interested in this track should contact the program for additional
information.
For practicing professionals, two non-traditional programs are offered.
The CRT-to-BS program is for those practitioners holding the CRT
credential who wish to qualify for the RRT credential. The RRT-to-BS
program is for those practitioners holding the RRT credential who wish
to complete the B.S. degree.
