Certification and Licensure

Successful completion of professional course work in the Ophthalmic Medical Technology program satisfies academic eligibility to apply for the national certification examination administered by the Joint Commission on Allied Health Personnel in Ophthalmology (JCAHPO). Successful completion of the program does not itself ensure certification. The granting of the B.S. degree is not contingent upon the student’s performance on any external certification. Each student is responsible for becoming familiar with the applicable certification requirements.
