Full-Time Tenure Track Faculty Position
The
Department of Imaging and Radiation Sciences
in the College of Health
Professions at the University of Arkansas for
Medical Sciences seeks applicants for the position of
department chair. The Department consists of five
divisions: Radiologic Imaging Sciences, Nuclear
Medicine Imaging Sciences, Diagnostic Medical
Sonography, Radiation Therapy, and Medical Dosimetry.
Programs are offered at several degree and certificate
levels, including master’s degree programs for the
Radiologist Assistant and the Nuclear Medicine Advanced
Associate. The department is heavily involved in
distance education, both intra- and inter-state. The
individual selected for the position will be appointed
at the assistant/associate professor rank on the tenure
track. Salary and academic rank are commensurate with
qualifications and college promotion and tenure
criteria.
Minimum qualifications
include an earned master’s degree
(doctoral degree preferred), three years of
college-level teaching experience at the college or
university level, two years of academic
administrative experience as a department chair or its
equivalent in one or more of the disciplines included in
the Department of Imaging and Radiation Sciences.
Candidate should have documented record of professional,
academic, and administrative/management achievement in
health professions education; experience in financial
management in the areas of program budget planning,
implementation, and administration; strong academic
leadership skills, including the ability to motivate
faculty and staff toward program goals and objectives;
and strong interpersonal skills.
The
department chair is responsible for overall leadership,
development, organization, administration, ongoing
review, and general effectiveness of the Department of
Imaging and Radiation Sciences, as assigned and
delegated by the dean of the College of Health
Professions. The chair’s responsibilities also include
teaching, student recruitment and advising, providing
liaison to clinical sites, appropriate scholarly
activity, and university and professional service.
Salary and academic rank are commensurate with
qualifications and college promotion and tenure
criteria.
